Mother and Baby Outdoor Photo Session
In July I had a wonderful holiday visiting friends in Devon. I was fortunate enough to be able to take some family portraits outside. In this case family photography meant 'baby photography' as my friend's youngest daughter had just turned 8 months old. The house we were staying in had a large beautiful garden - the obvious choice of location for the photo session. It was an exciting time in my friend's daughter's development - she was just starting to move around and trying to crawl. Also a few days after I had spent time with her she got her first two teeth through.
"These are pictures taken with the heart. Mind and heart. They were not taken by the camera, they were taken with 'this' camera" (points to head) - Franco Fontana, Masters of Photography.
"What ship will never sink? A friendship" - Tom, Celebs Go Dating
Growing up with two older sisters this lovely little lady was used to 'rough' play - she absolutely adored being held up in the air and being a little daredevil.
The baby was also going through a phase when she was super-smitten with her mother. So lying them down in the grass elicited lots of snuggles and cuddles for the photos.
There was time for a quick change of clothes - this time they were both pretty in pink. To get the baby to show such huge smiles, her sisters stood behind me pulling faces and calling to their little sister.
I am a Glasgow and Edinburgh photographer. If you live in either area and would like to find out about having a mother and baby photography session taken then do get in touch!
