Great Gatsby Themed Joint 40th Birthday and 50th Birthday Party, Edinburgh

I am an Edinburgh family photographer and I was hired for a photoshoot to capture cherished memories at a fabulous Gatsby themed birthday party in Edinburgh. This 'playtime' was organised to help friends and family say 'Happy 40th and Happy 50th Birthday' to a couple of real dolls. These dames have been best friends for a number of years and so share some friends. This full-fun nostalgic 1920s themed party was the perfect way to celebrate this fact.

The party got off to an atmospheric start with the revellers travelling by bus to a 'secret location.' On the bus Twenties jazz music was played. On arrival we were greeted by a couple of gangster goons who were packing some heat. They led us down a dark path to the speakeasy.

The juice joint was hidden at a rustic location in a marquee. We were sung in by Sal who sang some Rat Pack classics.

Everyone who joined to celebrate went to town on their outfits. So I started with some photos outside around the large bonfire that had been lit.

I chose some well-placed hay bales outside the main marquee to take some group shots. One of the main requests I had for the party was to try to get photos of all the broads, gum-shoes and grifters in attendance.

Party goers were more than happy to follow me out in the chilly evening air to have their photos taken. And after all the effort they had gone to with their fabulous costumes then who can blame them?

Inside there was a dancefloor and, as well as plenty of opportunities for catching up on the latest rumble, there was also a mini casino.

Back outside I took some photos of the birthday girls, including some shots with their respective Sheiks.

Back inside the joint was jumping as revellers were surprised with a flash mob Flapper dance.

Before I left I was asked to take some group shots.
